It’s been a wonderful winter here at the Combsberry Inn, with a few magical snow days and plenty of cozy nights spent bundled up by the fire; but warm weather and springtime fun are on our minds and we can’t wait for what’s in store. As we transition into spring here in Oxford, MD, we look forward to watching our guests enjoy some of the fantastic local events that take place in our nearby towns. Oxford, Cambridge, and Easton are all gearing up for the first of their spring events, which means now is the perfect time to make your plans for a stay at the Inn. What’s happening in March?? Let’s take a look:

Freezin’ for a Reason – Sunday, March 13

For our adventurous and generous guests, we suggest booking a stay during the weekend of March 13 to participate in Freezin’ for a Reason at the Tred Avon Yacht Club (located right here in Oxford). The first annual Polar Dip will send brave participants plunging into the Tred Avon water, all in an effort to raise funds for Camp Sunshine. Camp Sunshine is an award-winning camp on Sebago Lake in Maine where children with life threatening illnesses (and their families) can go to experience the benefits of empathy and encouragement, as well as hope and inspiration in a community setting. Each participant of Freezin’ for  Reason is asked to pledge a minimum of $100 to jump; the funds will then be used to give families from Maryland a one-week stay at Camp Sunshine. Too cold to go all the way in? No problem! There’s also the ‘Chicken Dip,’ where participants only need to run in up to their ankles.

St. Patrick’s Day Parade & Events in Easton – Thursday, March 17

In nearby Easton, the Easton Business Alliance is gearing up for St. Patrick’s Day with a host of activities for all ages and interests, including the annual parade and the famous potato race! Easton is full of adorable shops and award-winning restaurants, which makes for a full day of fun in the historic town. The day’s events include the following:

12pm – Ecumenical Service at Temple B’Nai Isreal

1pm-2:30pm – Irish Tea at the Academy Art Museum

4:30pm-5:30pm – Children’s Crafts & Activities on the Talbot County Courthouse Lawn

5:30pm – Parade in Downtown Easton

6pm – Famous Potato Race

Paddy on Poplar – Saturday, March 12

A little further south, Cambridge Main Street is getting prepped for another one of their fantastic street festivals – Paddy on Poplar! The beloved event is getting  a bit of a facelift this year as it moves to the street with even more live music, great food, and good times. Higher Education and Topidelic will both be performing on the Main Stage, along with a few other surprises. There will be plenty of food and drink specials to enjoy at the area restaurants, including the highly anticipated Dank Day in the Streets party over at RAR Brewing. The local brewery will be celebrating two years of brewing with three can releases. It’s a party you won’t want to miss!

During our off-season from November to March, the Cottage and Carriage House will be available for rent with a 20% off discount to accommodate for a temporary absence of breakfast.
