As much as we love to keep our local hidden gems a secret, we happen to also love sharing our favorite local hot spots with our guests! Of course, thanks to some recent news coverage, we aren’t the only ones taking note of our local ice cream haven these days. Scottish Highland Creamery was recently named one of the Top 5 Best Ice Cream Shops in the U.S. by TripAdvisor, and since everyone loves ice cream, the list has circulated rapidly through social media and various media outlets, bringing some well-deserved attention to our local ice cream shop! Located just down the road from the Combsberry Inn in the quaint, historic town of Oxford, MD, Scottish Highland Creamery is locally owned and operated, serving up over 600 flavors of ice cream, handmade from only the best ingredients.
We’ve been sending our guests to enjoy (and indulging ourselves of course) Scottish Highland Creamery for years, and each time our visitors return with huge smiles and very happy bellies. Owners Victor and Susan Barlow certainly know a thing or two about ice cream, and have created a massive following of loyal customers since opening up shop in 2006. Victor hails from Scotland, where he learned to make ice cream at the age of 15 when he started working in an Italian ice cream shop. Today, he is still at it, making every flavor of ice cream one gallon at a time with local ingredients, fresh milk, cream and flavorings imported from Italy.
Did we mention that there are over 600 flavors?! Pumpkin pie, mascarpone, Mexican vanilla, fresh crushed strawberry, double Belgian chocolate…and that’s just the tip of the iceberg. You can see why we don’t have a favorite…there are too many delicious options to pick just one!
So what’s the best way to get the REAL scoop on Scottish Highland Creamery? By heading there yourself of course! Book a stay with us at the Inn and make the short drive into town to enjoy some of the nation’s best ice cream. Chances are you’ll be making more than one trip to see the Barlow’s while you’re here. 😉
